INSTALL PROCESS

 

WOWACCESS EQUIPMENT  LAYOUT

 

What to expect during a standard install process.

After you have signed up for service, you will receive a phone call from an installation professional. They will set up an appointment for your installation at a convenient time for you. It will take about two hours to complete the installation.

 

 

Self-Install

Self installation is not recommended for everyone.  The antenna need to be mounted where the signal is strongest.  Most of the time this is very high on your roof.

 

Self-Install installation package includes:

* Equipment package need to be purchased or leased from WOWACCESS.

  • One 12" X 4" WOWACCESS antenna.
  • Up to 75ft. outdoor CAT5 cable (Our cable is required)
  • One surge suppressor.
  • One power adaptor.
  • One WOWACCESS self-install guide.

Other materials you will need to get:

  • An antenna mounting bracket. *
  • Grounding wire, rod or clamp.
  • Weather sealant for structure penetration.

Standard Installation
Standard residential installation package includes: WOWACCESS Wireless Installation - Click to Zoom
  • Mounting of one 12" X 4" antenna on a vertical structure, chimney, or roof of a single family dwelling (includes installation of cable up to 75 ft.)
  • System grounding to meet national electrical codes.
  • Cable routing through structure with a single exterior wall penetration.
  • Verification that the antenna is functioning and that you have a connection to the Internet.

Materials provided at standard installation:

  • Up to 75 ft. of outdoor rated CAT5 cable.
  • 1 Universal Antenna mounting bracket.
  • Up to 75 ft. grounding wire.
  • Weather sealant for structure penetration.

Your installation professional will connect their laptop computer to the cable and verify that Internet access is functioning properly. Congratulations! Your WOWACCESS service is now installed!

The WOWACCESS installer will leave you a “Quick Setup Guide” with step-by-step instructions on how you can connect your computer to the Internet.

If your computer has the required NIC, your installation professional will explain to you how to find its unique ID number (MAC address), which WOWACCESS requires to allow your computer to connect to the Internet.

If your computer does not have the required NIC, you can purchase one from any local computer store. You can install the NIC by yourself or have a computer service professional install it for you. Once you have the NIC installed, you must call WOWACCESS with the MAC address of your NIC before you will be able to connect to the Internet.

 


 

Non-standard Installation
options:

Please note there are certain non-standard Installation Items for which additional installation charges will apply. Your installation professional will inform you of these limitations and consult with you on any additional charges before they are incurred.

These items include the following:

Additional installation services (will be quoted and charged for at the time of installation):

  • Cat-5 cable from antenna to wall jack longer than 75 feet.
  • Fishing of cables through walls.
  • CAT5 Flush mount wall jack.
  • Non-standard roof mounts

       Tripods

       Gable-end mounts

       Chimney mounts

  • Non-penetrating roof mount (antenna sled mount).
  • Antenna height extension (3 foot tripod and mast pole).
  • Accessories, routers, switches, hubs, A/C surge protectors, etc.
  • Second room wiring.
  • Customized Ethernet wiring.
  • Permit or inspection fees required for installation.
  • Wireless or standard wired Ethernet LAN equipment to connect multiple computers at your location.

Definitions

Broadband - High-speed transmission. The term is commonly used to refer to communications lines or services above 128k.


CAT5 - Category 5 network cabling used for connecting computer networks.


Last-Mile - The connection between the customer and the company providing Internet access. The last mile has traditionally telephone wire or cable, but wireless technologies offer alternative options in locations where others fail.


MAC - The unique serial number burned into Ethernet adapters that identifies that network card from all others.


NIC - Network Interface Card.


NLOS - Near Line of Sight.
